Biography: Mr. Firger is a member of the Connecticut and Florida bars and is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Connecticut. He is one of five practicing attorneys in Connecticut who is certified by the USGBC as a LEED AP. His practice of transactional real estate includes the acquisition, sale, financing, commercial mortgage-backed securitization, leasing, workout, development, land-use and environmental compliance of commercial and residential properties, including Green Building projects. He represents Not For Profit organizations in their real estate transactions, including issues relating to property ownership, management and charitable donation. He has been responsible for legal affairs associated with a multi-state workout of a $500 million real estate portfolio, including CBD office towers, suburban office parks and multiphase residential developments. He served as Senior Vice-President, Associate General Counsel, of a major financial institution for twelve years where he was directly involved in all aspects of real estate and lending functions. Mr. Firger has experience in residential mortgage banking, has been a licensed real estate broker in Massachusetts, and acted as owner’s representative for a major high rise headquarters office building, extensively involved in its assemblage, joint-venture, design, federal regulatory and local zoning approval process. His real estate experience extends to office, industrial, general commercial, real estate brokerage, hospitality, multi-family residential, large tract residential subdivision development, health care and communications properties, as well as joint venture and venture capital transactions. Prior to the practice of law, he was an aerial and commercial photographer specializing in real estate development; owned and operated an import-export company in the Americas; and had extensive background in medical research. He serves on a number of boards, including the Greater Hartford Arts Council, the Board of Electors of the Wadsworth Atheneaum, as well as other arts and civic organizations.
