Mr. Shelton’s practice is concentrated primarily in the area of commercial real estate transactional work including acquisition, sale, lending, leasing, brokerage, title, survey, development, land use, environmental compliance and permitting as well as corporate, LLC, partnership and general business law including formation of entities, purchase and sale of business, and general business transactions.
In addition to his legal skills, Mr. Shelton’s “real world” business experience in commercial sales and marketing, equipment leasing and commercial real estate, acquired prior to embarking on his legal career, brings a valuable level of business acumen to the firm. As a result, he is able to comprehend, distill and analyze complex business matters and provide valuable counsel to his clients on their legal issues.
As an active member of the community in both civic and professional organizations, Mr. Shelton served for six years on the Zoning Board of Appeals for Rocky Hill and served as the Chairman of Rocky Hill Economic Development Commission for four years. He has been a frequent lecturer on topics within his practice areas of expertise, and has volunteered his time and services since 2001 as a member of the board of The New England Cognitive Center, Inc.; formerly serving as its President and Chairman of the Board. Mr. Shelton is also a board member of the Hartford Chapter of the Real Estate Finance Association of CT, and is the Past Chair of the Real Estate Property Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.
