About Jennifer

Jennifer Oxford is a North Carolina attorney who focuses her practice in commercial real estate. She assists her clients with all aspects of their commercial real estate needs – from acquisition and financing, to development and leasing, to redevelopment, refinancing, and sales. With nearly 10 years of legal experience in North Carolina, she has served as the lead real estate attorney on a wide range of projects. Jennifer’s passion for real estate and the law, combined with an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in regional planning (and prior careers in both fields), positions her to understand her clients’ needs and provide relevant, real-world advice from her unique perspective.

Some of her representative matters include:

  • Developer’s lead outside counsel for the acquisition of mid-century warehouse and related property in downtown Durham for redevelopment into a contemporary commercial project, and joint venture local counsel for construction financing, including negotiating a complex easement agreement with Duke Energy
  • Developer’s lead counsel for acquisition of 700 acres in Chatham County and 515 acres in Raleigh for development into large, mixed use and residential projects, including extensive title analysis, and restrictive covenant and easement renegotiations
  • Developer’s lead counsel for acquisition and mortgage financing for the redevelopment of a neglected warehouse into a food hall, including negotiating a reciprocal easement agreement with the adjacent residential townhome parcel
  • Condominium counsel in connection with redevelopment of a historic downtown Raleigh building into affordable senior housing and retail, including drafting and negotiating extensive commercial condominium documents
  • Represented seller/borrower in defeasance of mortgage loan on shopping center out-parcel
  • Negotiated lease of new built-to-suit medical office building on behalf of major hospital affiliate
  • Represented landlords and tenants in retail and office leases
