Michael A. DiGennaro’s practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions and development, where he advises clients on all aspects of real estate law and deal structuring including acquisition, development, construction, land use, financing, property management leasing, workout, disposition, entity and joint venture formation, tax deferred exchanges, brokerage and an array of ancillary real estate transaction and ownership related disciplines. During his years as in-house counsel to a retail center development company, Michael has successfully facilitated deals involving credit worthy, national end-users, such as Chick-Fil-A, Amazon, Whole Foods, and Costco, negotiated various joint venture structures, pursued and obtained land use entitlements, handled the due diligence on acquisitions and sales of retail centers, and represented borrowers on many complex acquisition, construction and stabilized credit facilities .
Outside of his traditional commercial real estate practice, Michael serves as legal counsel to a company in the sale and service of gear turbines used in the wind and oil power production industry. He regularly deals with large-scale risk and liability in the turbine goods and services contracts, and negotiates indemnifications and limitations of liability that fit his client’s risk tolerance. In furtherance of that role, he has negotiated agreements with companies such as Chevron, Siemens, and numerous large energy producers across North America.
Michael is also highly engaged in agricultural advocacy. He serves as counsel to an agricultural coalition, and regularly uses his real estate and corporate experience to assist young farmers, ranchers, and agriculture professionals in launching and maintaining their ventures.
Michael earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Fairfield University. He is admitted to the bar in Colorado, Connecticut, and Montana. In his personal life he is an accomplished oarsman and angler who strives to instill a love for the outdoors in his wife and daughter.
